I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury Mr. Read's letter of the 10th instant (38776/1917), and its accompanying copy of a letter from Messrs. Wells, Fargo and Company relative to shipments of American gold coin to Hong Kong.

In reply I am to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Long that My Lords do not think that any impediment need be placed in the way of these shipments, so far as His Majesty's Government is concerned.
