Sir,
I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of
His Majesty's Treasury Mr. Read's letter of the 10th instant (38776/1917), and its accompanying copy of a letter from Messrs. Wells, Fargo and Company relative to shipments of American gold coin to Hong Kong.
In reply I am to request you to inform Mr. Secretary Long that My Lords do not think that any
impediment need be placed in the way of these shipments, so far as His Majesty's Government is concerned.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
